After seeing the photos I took for Shannon and Chris, BreAnn contacted me about doing an "engagement"/family session. BreAnn and Jon have their own boxer, a very energetic male named "Milo", and we managed to get a few shots of them as a family before banishing him to the car to wait out the rest of the session. Poor Milo was having a bit of trouble focusing on the camera, as there were about 5 times as many dogs at the park that day as I have seen at other times. With so many interesting distractions it was a fun challenge to make sure everyone was looking at the same time. :)
Recently it seems like I have had a lot of families request a photoshoot with their dogs. It has been a lot of fun to see the dynamic between the clients and their pets as we work together- they really do become a part of the family, and I have loved the variety it can provide to the pictures.

Engagement
Chris and Shannon's "Engagements"
When Shannon saw her friend Carolyn's bridals, she contacted me and asked to schedule a shoot for her own bridals. However, due to some issues with the wedding dress they decided to do this "engagement" shoot. They've been married for over a year now, but didn't have professional photos done at the time; this is a fairly common situation, and I am always delighted to help recreate some of the feelings and looks so that my clients can have photos that represent what they would have wanted at the time.
Chris and Shannon were loads of fun to work with, and we had a wonderful time as we went around the Salt Lake County building and the SLC Library. I love it when it feels like instead of just meeting new clients, I get to make some new friends as well.
We focused primarily on just couple shots, but they did bring their beautiful boxer Roxy along to be able to get a couple "family poses" as well.. :)

Jeanine and Justin's Engagements
For this engagement shoot we met up in Salt Lake City at Liberty Park. Though it was fairly late in the year, there were fortunately still plenty of Fall colors down there. Justin and Jeanine are due to be getting married on Jan 2nd in the Bountiful Temple, and we were happy to be able to get a session in with the trees still bearing their leaves. Jeanine and Justin were great to work with, especially given that they don't have a ton of time together in their schedule, and so a two-hour photoshoot might not seem like the most fun. You know it's love when they make a regular 4 hour trip to be able to see each other every weekend.

LJ and Kaylee's Engagements
I love finding new places to shoot! As a photographer I always have a list of ideas and locations to shoot in Utah or Salt Lake county that I have done in the past or have been meaning to try out, but it is always awesome when my clients tell me about a place that I have never been to. LJ and Kaylee told me they wanted to take their engagement photos at a location they had heard about in Lehi called the "Da Vinci Doors". I said it sounded like fun, and we set the appt for an early morning session. This location was great! Within the space of two blocks there were 6 or 7 completely different backgrounds and types of walls, an awesome red railroad car, rail road tracks, this vintage red and green store that looked like it was built around the turn of the century, and of course, the doors themselves. Da Vinci Doors is apparently a door and window shop, and they have a lot of examples of their work around their building- which makes for a varied and interesting setting. Best of all? It's just a few miles from my house! :)
We started to shoot just before sunrise, and as this was a weekend, Thomas was able to help out with lighting. Kaylee and LJ were fantastic! As you can see, they are both great looking, and as we began taking pictures and started to relax around each other we began just to joke around and poke fun at each other. I think I laughed pretty much constantly during the entire hour and a half that we were shooting. It was wonderful to see a couple so in love and so happy to just play and have fun with each other. The pictures turned out beautifully, if I do say so myself, with some great candid and serious moments. I look forward to doing Kaylee's bridals and to photographing their wedding!

Kelsey and Alec's Engagements
Kelsey and Alec's engagement shoot was the final one in a whirlwind schedule of 4 different fall color shoots in 24 hours. We stopped for a moment at Bridal Veil Falls, and then immediately headed back up to Sundance Stables to get some beautiful autumn-colored backgrounds.
I love Fall! Even though this was the fourth time driving up the canyon that day I kept squealing as Thomas and I drove up the road and I saw all the different colors and shades in the trees. As a photographer I am completely addicted to colors, and the more vivid and varied the better. So while this is definitely my favorite time of year, there's always a slight undercurrent of panic as I try to get in as many photos as possible before they are all gone. It is definitely unfair that Fall in Utah is so short compared to other places in the country!
Kelsey and Alec were wonderful models, and had lots of fun playing among the trees and ferns as we took their pictures. We hadn't met each other until we all showed up at Bridal Veil, but as soon as we began shooting everybody relaxed and we immediately began joking around and laughing as we went along. I love when a photography shoot just flows and it doesn't feel forced or even feel like work. It's just me playing with my friends and doing what I love to do best!
Kelsey and Alec are going to be married in November in Redlands California, so I'll get to escape the cold for Thanksgiving and travel on down there to shoot. I love traveling!
Be sure and keep a lookout for Kelsey's bridals in the next couple weeks! In the meantime, check out more of this shoot here.
Alexis and Alan's Engagements
I met Alexis when she was a bridesmaid at Mike and Crystal's Wedding. It turned out that she was recently engaged, and I was able to take a few extra shots of Alan and Alexis at the reception. They decided they liked what they saw and asked me to shoot their wedding on Nov 20 in Bountiful. A little over a week ago we met up in American Fork to do their engagement pictures. We went to a park near Mt Timpanogos Temple and then found a couple places downtown that had some really fun backdrops.
They were great to work with, and I am looking forward to both shooting Alexis' bridals with fall colors and shooting their wedding in a couple months.

Grant and Rachel
Grant & Rachel have been dating a couple months, and we had a lot of fun taking some pictures at Saltair. This was a trial run for a bridal shoot I was doing the next day for some clients, and I wanted to see what locations I liked best at the venue. I posted an offer to do a free shoot at the last minute and Grant & Rachel happily jumped at the chance for some fun non-engagement photos. :) I've known Grant for years as a part of the lindy hop community here in Utah, and it was fun to be able to take photos of a friend. They both have a great sense of style!
