Engagement

Xinling & Daniel

Xinling and Daniel were married last December, but their reception is scheduled for next week.  They wanted some photos for their reception to show off how fabulous they are and how much they are in love with each other, and I have to say these do the trick!  Xinling is gorgeous, and you can almost hear how awesome her laugh and how sweet her personality are just by looking at her.  Daniel was fantastically supportive, and you could absolutely tell that he was willing to do anything to make his bride happy.

We spent the entire time in Vivian Park up Provo Canyo.  I love this train that they have there... it makes for some great lighting opportunities!

Xinling had a couple of super cute outfits, but I loved the chinese dress she wore for the more formal part of the engagements.  She had another one that she wore as part of the formals- you'll have to check back and see that one when I get those done!

I also loved the different scarves that Xinling had for her outfits- just a perfect dash of color for each.

Take a look at the rest of Xinling and Daniel's engagement photos here.  The photos from their formals session will be making an appearance on the blog soon!

Alli & Josh- A New Kind of Engagement Session

Ok, when Allison and Josh contacted me to do their engagements, they told me they wanted to do something a little different.  "When you're engaged is when you plan the wedding... so why don't we make the engagements session a record of the process?"  So in one session we hit up a florist, a very cute cake place, a bridal shop, a tux shop, a reception center, and finally finished up for some celebratory ice cream.  It was great!  I love it when couples have such fun and creative ideas for their photos!

This next photo is so touching... how a couple can just sit and end up holding hands, without even realizing it.  That's true love, in my eyes.

This cake store was awesome!  Bundt cakes, as far as the eye could see!  They were delicious, but as we drove away to the next spot on our list, I couldn't help but think of the line from My Big Fat Greek Wedding (a fantastic wedding movie, btw)-   "This kayk has a hole in it."

The groom isn't supposed to see the bride in her dress before the big day... unless he sneaks a peek when she isn't looking.

What is the answer to a long day's wedding planning?  The world's largest brownie sundae, of course!

Dorothy & Don

Dorothy and Don got married today!  In honor of this, let us remember the engagement shoot.

Dorothy had the most amazing smile!  Just look at her- she lights up the entire photo!

So, congratulations you two!  I hope your marriage is full of as much laughter and love as these photos!

Andrea & Steven

Andrea and Steven's wedding is coming up, and we never had a chance to post this engagement shoot from last fall. This couple has AWESOME style. Seriously- they should start a blog or something. We lucked out with this romantic rainy day, and I still hold that this was one of my favorite engagement shoots that I have ever done. Vivian Park Engagements

The best thing about Andrea and Steven?  They are lindy hoppers!  Every time two dancers meet and fall in love, the jazz gods smile down upon us.

More Slideshows!

Here are a few more favorite slideshows!   Amy and Jordan had some amazing photos from their engagement and especially their formals session! Amy is gorgeous, and Jordan is one of the sweetest guys around. Their wedding was fabulous (and will be posted soon here on the blog).

Abbey and Taylor were definitely at the top of the list of my favorite weddings last year, and so I decided to make a slideshow for them given their one-year anniversary is coming up. The song is probably one of the best love songs I have ever heard.

And finally, a little bit of fun with different moments from different weddings over the last year or so.

Viva las Vegas!

A few weeks ago Thomas and I had a road trip down to Vegas for Alexandra and Tyrel's engagements.  We were pretty excited to take a break from the cold weather, and Las Vegas is such an interesting place to shoot that I was looking forward to all the variety we could get from place to place.  We started the engagement shoot at the Venetian Hotel on the strip, then drove out to Lake Las Vegas in Henderson.
We almost got kicked out of the resort at Lake Las Vegas, but I was able to sweet talk the security guard and got us 15 minutes. He even waved at us when he drove away!  (Said he didn't want to disappoint me with my big brown eyes.  I didn't know they were such an asset!)  After we were done, we discussed the matter among ourselves and decided that, after aaaall, one couldn't be quite SURE where the private property was and which resort was which, so we casually meandered over to the other side of the Lake for the remainder of the daylight. We did keep an eye out for our new friend, though.
We got some great sunsets, and even though the light was gone, we decided we were having so much fun that we'd see what night-time Vegas had to offer!  We went up to a spot Alexandra's mom knew about to get an angle on the skyline, and then we headed back downtown.  I'm a huge fan of Ocean's 11, and so I suggested we try the fountains around the Bellagio.

This bridge is where they had their first kiss. Awwwwww... how romantic.  They really really wanted this photo, so despite the fact that there was a no trespassing sign to our right... and despite the fact that a wedding was about to start on the other side of a group of trees 15 yards away... AND despite the fact that we weren't dressed well enough to pretend we were just more guests arriving (the food did look good!),  we snuck down, took our minute and a half, and walked away with everything they needed.  Photos are all about preserving memories, right? So now they have an extra one by the bridge.

The Bellagio is GORGEOUS.  By far, one of the prettiest hotels on the strip.  We did try and get to the exact spot in front of the fountains as the movie, but of course the place was packed and so there were just too many people.  We did end up getting some incredible views with the fountains though.
