Nasa's Graduation Session

Nasa recently graduated from BYU, and requested a portrait session to show off how she looked in her cap and gown. We ended up with some good shots of the outfit, as well as some fun photos from the more "regular-individual-portrait-session" part of the shoot.

It was a gorgeous spring day- I love when the trees finally start to bloom.

Both Nasa and her sister do a traditional style of dance, and we got some super fun pictures for them to send back to their family in Mongolia.

Good times. Fun sisters. See more here.

Jordan the Ballerina

You probably recognize Jordan from a previous session I did of her as a bridal ballerina last year, or may have seen a few sneak peeks at this session on Facebook. She and I met up for a session as part of a recent project to specifically focus on window light as a way of refining my skill set as a photographer. She's a gorgeous girl, and a fun friend to hang out with. She was happy to model for me, and we got some portraits of her I was very pleased with. We did run into a bit of an awkward situation during the shoot, though. We were shooting on BYU campus and in the same building with us was a large group of business students, mostly male, who were all getting THEIR photos taken (for a directory or something). So we have a bunch of guys with nothing to do but wait around for their turn in front of the camera. Oh yeah, and watch the girl in tights doing ballet poses by the big windows. .... And whistle occasionally.

My hubby

This is Thomas.
He sat in for me in this window-light only shoot. I loved the challenge of using only natural light for these headshots.
Not only is Thomas a great model, husband, and business manager, but he's also willing to be my Voice Activated Light Stand on my photoshoots. He even puts me on his shoulders so I can get a better angle for the large group shots at a wedding. How many people can say that about their spouse?
Serious face, headshots
Here's something a little bit more dramatic:

And look at this smile... The smile that says he loves me. The smile that convinces me to let him skip the household chores. Much too convincing. It's dangerous.

Thomas is amazing. We've been married almost two years, and I'm grateful for him every day.

Trisha's Headshots

I shot Trisha's family last fall, and had a blast. They were so fun and happy to be around, that when Trisha called me and asked for some last minute headshots, I told her I would be delighted. Trisha is just getting into some modeling on the side, and we got some great shots to show off how gorgeous she is for her portfolio.

I love the red top; such a rich color... it adds the perfect splash of color here.

Geoff

I've been trying to get through my backlog of posts I have been meaning to share. I've had a wedding and 5 engagement shoots in the last 7 days, and so I'm going to be swamped with new photos to share in the next little while. Thus, here is the last of the Christmas shoots I did for my family. Here's my little brother Geoff-
Love the lights in the background...

Geoff will be heading off on a mission pretty soon. Looks pretty sharp in a suit, doesn't he?

A recent shoot I did in my studio was a head shot session for Kelli, a candidate for Miss Utah. My head shot sessions are a little different than standard portrait sessions- they include 5 different photos, but I do a lot more on the editing above and beyond the standard portraits. Kelly needed a few different photos for the promotion of the pageant, including a few wearing a crown! (a first for me, i admit)

Jasmine Palmer

Jasmine, Portrait Session, Spokane WA
I'm finally wrapping up the last few sessions that I did for family while we were up in Spokane for Christmas. Free shoots coming after paid ones in the editing priority and all.... so here's Jasmine. We headed across the Idaho border to this pretty lake for the photoshoot. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was pleased with the scenery. It's always fun to take photos in new and beautiful locations.
