Fancy Fabric Flowers

A couple months ago I did a product shoot for a little company called Fancy Fabric Flowers.  Melina does all the work and hand-makes these beautiful fabric flowers that are super unique and (best of all) that don't make you worry whether they will last the whole day or not.

I thought the gold bouquet was definitely the most elegant of the day, but this one below with the button flowers was adorable.

They also do corsages (that can double as hair pieces) and boutonnieres for prom...

Chelsea&Dan Details: Tuscan Iron Works

Sheri, Chelsea's mom, is a genius when it comes to flowers.  As I mentioned in the last post, Sheri did the flowers for our reception in Austin when Thomas and I got married, and they were fantastic.  However, she outdid herself with Chelsea's wedding.  There were gorgeous flower arrangements EVERYWHERE.  The place smelled fantastic, and no arrangement was exactly the same.  The variety and creativity was awesome.  Here are just a few details from the day...

Chelsea & Dan: LDS Draper Temple Wedding

It's always a pleasure to shoot a fellow Austin-ite's wedding!  Chelsea is from my hometown back in Texas, and I was thrilled to be a part of their wedding day.

I love the look you can get with the pillars around the Draper Temple.... the effect is almost exactly like window-light gives.
Chelsea and Dan had some AMAZING details at their reception, so I think that will be the next post.  Chelsea's mom actually did the flowers for our wedding reception in Texas, and she went above and beyond for the flowers for Chelsea and Dan. They were absolutely unbelievable.  Be sure and check back in a bit to see them!

Annie & Robbie- Small World

Anna and Robbie were sealed in the Provo, UT Temple this February.  The wedding day was gorgeous, and they were awesome to work with.

However, in one of those weird, keep-doing-this-long-enough-and-sooner-or-later-you-always-run-into-something-like-this type coincidences, we found out while doing group photos at the temple that Anna is actually Thomas' second cousin!  As we were arranging the different groups, Anna's grandmother Eileen told Thomas he looked familiar and asked his last name.  He told her that it was Lewis and she immediately asked him who's son he was.  He replied that he was Bill's son, and Eileen said "OH!  We're your Aunt Eileen and Uncle Charles!  You're our nephew!!"  It turned out, embarrassingly enough, that they actually went to the party we threw in Utah the night before our wedding!

I guess when we see someone at a wedding and say "Hey, they look kind of familiar" we should try to figure out if it's not another long lost relative...

Anyways, we got some fabulous photos of cousin Anna and new-cousin Robbie.

These guys were a riot.  Completely impossible to take a serious photo of them, but so much fun to hang around!

Anna & Robbie- Reception at Highland Gardens

I love Highland Gardens.  The greenery is fantastic, skylights are awesome, but the best part?  All the lights they have strung up overhead!

Planning tip- it's a huge bonus if your reception venue has lots of little lights overhead or on the walls.  It makes the background pop, and helps the photo to have a lot more depth.  As a photographer, you can light your subject perfectly, but if it's a dark background without any real light in it, the photo often just ends up looking flat.

Behind the Scenes at Sleepy Ridge

We had a fantastic formals shoot last night that finished up at Sleepy Ridge in Orem.  Sleepy Ridge is an AMAZING reception venue, and sunset on the green outside is begging for a photo.  I'll be posting the entire shoot in a couple weeks, but wanted to give y'all a peek behind the scenes for one of the evening shots.

First, the finished product:

Now,  the setup:

The photo above illustrates one of my favorite lighting setups, and shows how important it can be to have an assistant (or two!) for the session.  A big thanks to my husband Thomas and one of my interns, Amber!  This photo wouldn't be ANYTHING without the light.

More Slideshows!

Here are a few more favorite slideshows!   Amy and Jordan had some amazing photos from their engagement and especially their formals session! Amy is gorgeous, and Jordan is one of the sweetest guys around. Their wedding was fabulous (and will be posted soon here on the blog).

Abbey and Taylor were definitely at the top of the list of my favorite weddings last year, and so I decided to make a slideshow for them given their one-year anniversary is coming up. The song is probably one of the best love songs I have ever heard.

And finally, a little bit of fun with different moments from different weddings over the last year or so.
